Root may be gone, but she will never be forgotten.
Root was many things throughout her life: a fighter, a lover, and, most notably, a protector. She died defending the people—and the A.I.—she cared about most.
Let's take a look back at some of the reasons we'll always hold a special place in our hearts for The Machine's most adoring fan.
1.She was always one of the good guys.
Even if she had a funny way of showing it.
2.She had a fun relationship with Finch.
Root was the only one who could call him "Harry," and she was certainly the only one who could give him a little smack on the tush.
3.She was savvy, and she always came prepared.
There wasn't a man alive she couldn't outsmart—or stuff into a suitcase!
4.She was fearless.
And she was always ready for a fight.
5.She was the voice of reason.
Even when the world seemed like it was spinning out of control, Root stayed calm and rational.

And she was always true to her word.
7.She was a hopeless romantic.
Although, she had a knack for choosing the most inopportune times to express her feelings.

But she never abandoned her core principles.

If her interactions with Fusco proved anything, it's that she could surely take a joke.

When she saw people's potential, she pushed them to be their best.

Her ability to transform into another person was sheer artistry.
13.She wasn't afraid to challenge The Machine.
Even if she knew she'd get in a bit of trouble.

Now that was one bad ballerina.
15.She was clearly Bear's favorite.
He's got great taste.
16.She made the ultimate sacrifice.
She died doing what she knew she was meant to do—protecting her loved ones and The Machine.
